The Truso settlement occupies the area of over 10 ha. It was founded at the shore of Drużno Lake, in the direct vicinity of the Elbląg Upland marginal zone. Both its buildings - along regularly marked out streets, as well as craft workshops operating there and port and marketplace indicate that this was a settlement of early urban features. A port section of the Truso settlement was closely associated with the former shoreline of the lake. In this area, there were exposed remnants of clinker-built flatboats. On the basis of paleoenvironmental research, it has been established that this was a flat area, gently declining towards water, and the body of water in the littoral part was presumably fairly shallow. So far, no traces of shoreline or port protections have been found. By analysing water conditions in this area and knowing the approximate form of the littoral zone of the reservoir, one can assume that such constructions were not necessary. At most, the existence of piers that were perpendicular to the shore line can be assumed.
